TEAMtalk media is a progressive digital media company, specializing in the production, publication and commercialisation of sports news, content and data across multiple platforms. In addition to being a significant player in the UK, the company is a market leader in its field on the African continent.
TEAMtalk media operates one of the largest networks of digital sports channels in Africa, and holds data rights for various sports leagues, tournaments and events.
Expansion is our game
In recent years, the company has benefited significantly from the exponential growth in digital media consumption and the related demand for relevant content and digital advertising platforms. The current expansion strategy focuses upon organic growth driven by sales of syndicated content and advertising inventory, supplemented by strategic acquisitions such as the purchase of PA Sports South Africa in 2011 and SA Rugby.com and its affiliated network of sites in 2012.
A company rooted in professional sports reporting
TEAMtalk media was originally a premium-rate line football club news service. The company was publicly floated in 1998, and established the now renowned www.teamtalk.com website. In a later acquisition by ukbetting plc, TEAMtalk media became part of the larger 365 Media Group, based in Leeds.
To meet the group’s requirement for a cost-effective hub providing editorial, mobile content, customer support and online ad trafficking services, TEAMtalk media South Africa was formed in 2005. Following the purchase of the 365 Media Group by BSkyB in 2007, the SA operation was further expanded to supply sports content feeds into www.skysports.com and establish a SkyBet operations centre, which was managed locally until the end of 2010.
In 2011, a management buyout led to the establishment of TEAMtalk media (Pty) Ltd as an independent business based in Cape Town.
Today
Today the company comprises a team of over 50 editorial, technical development, production and project management, marketing and design, customer services and campaign management, as well as advertising sales professionals.
